I've been wearing Russell Athletic tank tops for a number of years now both for workouts and casually during the summer months and I gotta say that I always enjoy the look and fit of this shirt.

The cotton material is thick and sturdy. The fabric matains well even after many washings. The shirt also feels pretty comfortable during my jogs, not too heavy and soaks up my sweat nicely.

I only purchased this shirt because I could not find the one that I really wanted. I was pleasantly surprised. It was a little long at first, but after I washed it, it shrunk to the perfect length. I always heard that cotton shirts hold on to sweat when you workout etc, etc, but that is not the case with this shirt. Very comfortable and does not hold on to moisture during a tough workout. I think it's a good shirt to workout in if you grow tired of the polyester workout shirts that snag easily.

As some reviewers have pointed out, despite the Amazon product description (as of 09/30/09), not all of the colors of this short (or the shorts from the same/similar line) are 100% cotton. In the case of the black color, both the shirt and shorts that I received were 100% cotton. FWIW, I prefer a poly-cotton blend in my workout clothes since they tend to deal with sweat more effectively - and I do sweat a lot... Anyhoooo...

The cut of these shirts (and shorts) are generous, which is great for working out IMHO, but can understand where it could be an issue for others. I would not consider them huge by any means but would recommend ordering a size down if you want a more accurate fit in the poly-cotton blend versions since they will not shrink, unlike the 100% cotton versions. The black shirt and shorts shrank a bit after the first wash, making them a "less generous" size medium, but not enough to consider ordering the next larger size. Downside is that, as with most 100% cotton clothing, a slight amount of color fading was already noticeable following the first washing.

I had bought these shirts and the matching shorts in heather and dark grey (both of which I would rate 5 stars for quality and value) before buying in black. Both the heather and dark grey are a poly-cotton blend and would recommend those over the black simply because the blended material seems like it would hold up better over years of washings. Neither has shrunk nor shown much color fading even after several washings.

Please note that the 100% cotton material seems very sturdy as well but loses a star since the poly-cotton versions seem to offer better value (IMHO). However, if you are looking for 100% cotton workout gear, you will be hard pressed to find a better deal - just stick to the black version for now.

Comfortable and inexpensive sleeveless shirt for working out or casual around the house or to wear while running errands. Easy maintenance, wash and wear...very happy with this product.

I purchased a few of these Russell brand sleeveless shirts for my husband to wear under his short sleeve work shirts. He LOVES them! I'm here to purchase some more and thought I would leave a review in the process.

I don't understand how one of the most important features isn't listed on the website, but the material is moisture wicking, so it pulls the wetness away from your skin and keeps you dry. I solely buy workout clothes for myself that have moisture wicking material because it makes a big difference. It is an excellent feature and it keeps you more cool. This is especially important for us Texans!

The pictured item of this sleeveless shirt is very accurate on how it looks/fits. The ribbed material around the neck is normal size (like in most regular t-shirts). I previously purchased some sleeveless shirts for him and they had a really small neck band, which made the sleeveless shirt look cheap. My husband was too embarrassed to wear them as undershirts. The material of these Russell sleeveless shirts is thicker (like a normal t-shirt) that also makes it more durable and washable, and therefore longer lasting. My husband has some other t-shirts that are really thin (I thought this would be better for him for our hot weather) and holes started to develop quickly and we had to toss them. I've had no issues with these shirts and highly recommend them to other buyers looking for a nicer quality (and moisture-wicking) fabric!
